This is the second show that is the result of the collaboration between Merav and Naama who come from the worlds of classical music, both have roots planted in the cultures of the East and North Africa, in the show they open the window to nostalgic and beloved musical worlds.
Meirav Eldan
Presents the audience new works that break musical conventions and others. In 2013 she started a project to bring political texts to the space of Israeli classical music. She performed works of modern classical music including new Israeli music, in the U.S. in leading roles in opera productions in New York, Cleveland and Atlanta. She appeared with many orchestras in Israel and around the world and on stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York or Toneholer in Switzerland. The worlds of Ladino songs and Endalusian music are an integral part of her identity, that she incorporates into her shows. In recent years, Merav has been dealing with the various connections between music and technology, thus creating electronic adaptations to Sasha Argov’s songs as well as the first live opera called the Bablockchain. The piece came out as a short movie screened at dozens of festivals and won awards around the world. Meirav began her training at the Eilat Conservatory as a pianist and a singer acquired a bachelor’s degree in the Music Academy on the name of Buchman Mehta in Tel Aviv and Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music, in the U.S. she participated in workshops and Artist Masterclasses with the best musicians in U.S. and Europe and won several grants and competitions.
Naama Tamir Kaplan
Composer, arranger and pianist holds a master’s degree in composition from the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Naama won many awards and grants such as the Foundation Promoting Israeli creators and works by ACUM and the Council of Culture and Art of Mifal Hapayis. Her works include orchestral, chamber music, vocal music and music for animated and dance films, symphonic and chamber arrangements. Her works are performed at some of the most important festivals in Israel and the world such as the Israel Festival, The Celebration of Israeli Music, the Voice of Music Festival in the Upper Galilee, Women’s Festival in Holon the International Women’s Festival in Riga, and the International Festival of Chamber Music in Hamburg and more. In 2018 Naama participated in an international Project “The Same Word” that Incorporated music from four religions. Her own works will be published by the Israeli Music Institute.
